Poole/Sandbanks

Poole Harbour is one of the most popular windsurfing spots in the UK with all levels of windsurfer. This is not particularly surprising when you consider the relatively safe open water sailing on offer in a wide range of wind directions and a number of different launching spots to take advantage of the different conditions available.

The image above shows the various launching spots that we are aware of, but I dare say there are probably more - please send in the details of any others you know.

The whole of Poole Harbour is subjected to a significant double-tide effect around spring tides. This does mean that - almost uniquely in the world - the water stays around for longer during spring tides than for neap tides.
