General details:Two locations on the same beach - the other being Horton - but a bit of a drive round from one to the other. Very big swell and reef break. Horton is the beach you would normally launch from. Very good spot, particularly for waves in south westerly, westerly or north westerly which produce good swells. Just off Port Eynon point, there are big rollers, strong, constant wind with peeling waves. On the inside - flukey wind. You'd normally have to sail round to here from Port Eynon Bay. Directions to the right place:Click here for a location map of Port Eynon How the winds work:Almost anything with W or SW in it is good for waves. S - cross-onshore & safe. SE - pretty much onshore Tidal conditions:HW springs tend to occur around 07:00 - 08:00 (19:00 - 20:00). HW neaps around 13:00 (GMT). At high tide there can be a big shorebreak, best to sail at half to low tide. Hazards:
Facilities:Large Pay & Display car park in Port Eynon, though it's a bit of trek to the beach with your kit. Shops, cafes in town. Toilets by car park. PJ surf shop in Llangentith has emergency windsurfing kit and one of the nicest blokes you will meet - Pete. B&B's / campsites
Pubs and eateriesThere is at least one pub in Port Eynon. There's a chippy on the sea front, plus a couple of cafes. Content supplied by Greg Taylor and Darren Reed.
