It wasn't actually that cold once in the water. You're right about the beach though. We only planned sailed up to high tide, but there was a bit of rapid de-rigging and van shuffling required towards the end. I managed 3 sessions over the weekend up in Scotland. One marginal day on a 7m and two dece...

Well - I did it! Pretty harsh conditions - overpowered on my 4.4m and the sea state was all over the place even by Weston standards. Still - they all count and that takes me up to 9 windsurf sessions so far this year. :D

Tue and Wed

Just got back from Rhosneigr. Great week where we scored 3 days out of 5 of F5 so I am now fully back in to the windsurfing after the long winter lay-off.

Is anyone planning to sail this week? Tuesday and Wednesday look to have potential for an after work session.

Where has all the wind gone? :???: Traditionally a good month for wind, September is looking like its gonna be a 1 session month for me. I've not had one of those since Feb!

Hopefully October will deliver more wind.

It does read quite low. It was reading about 18 kts last week when I went to the beach (it looked a lot windier than that). When I got there it was blowing it nuts off. Interestingly there was a guy down at the beach with a hand held wind thingy and it too was reading 18 - 20 kts. Based on that he h...

Well it seems that because its not a leap year, the moon is not in the 4th quadrant of the sun, Jupiter is not aligned with Pluto and Haly's Comet is not in view - there is no windsurfing at Axbridge today. No sailing for me today - shame as it looks great out there. Enjoy if you get out later.

I really need to get out in the afternoon as I am off to London this evening. I was thinking about Axbridge, but I get the impression it's Fun Police, Jobsworth City down there. I might call them to see if I can use the lake. You should be able to get out from about 1700 tonight, but you will have a...

Great session this evening despite being at Weston. Nicely powered up with a 4.4m.

Is anyone sailing tomorrow afternoon?

Hi Sue,

I'm going to head straight for Weston, with a view to getting on the water for as close to 4pm as possible. That should give a few hours good sailing up to HT.

Don't know if that influences your decision at all. I'll be in a VW white camper van with a trailer if you are down that way.

This afternoon

Is anyone sailing this afternoon / evening? If so where?

Looks as though the tides times are not good for a pm session - the joys of having Weston as our nearest spot!!!!!!!!!

Can we use Axbridge?

National Windsurf Festival - Hayling Island

Are any Nomads going down to the windsurf festival (formerly FatFace) this weekend? I went last year and it was a brilliant weekend. All the usual suspects were there giving clinics, fun racing and a double forward loop compitition from the pro's. All helped by epic winds of course. The party was gr...

Windy Weekend

Not as windy as it was meant to be last weekend up in SW Scotland. Stilled scored 2 good sessions though - one day on a 5m and the other on my 4.4m. Still can't do Vulcans though - grrrrrrrrrrr!

I was at the V Festival and I vaguely remember one point when my girlfriend said, "If you say 'I bet it's great windsurfing today' one more time, you'll be wearing this pint."

Not that I'm obsessed or owt!

Windy Scotland

You gotta love the North South divide. I was up in SW Scotland for the weekend and the weather was miserable. It was windy though. 3 days sailing on my 5m and 4.4m. Nice ramps for jumping. The forward loops remain elusive and despite what anyone may tell you, they do hurt.
