Me and fellow Nomad Dave ventured to Hamworthy for what I'm sure was the first bit of wind for a month.
Good 3 hours sailing with 5.5's, and feeling knackered today.
Only the 2nd time at Hamworthy for me, and its become a firm favourite.

Fellow Nomad Dave talked me into trip to Hamworthy. Southerly 20mph when we rigged 6.25m, and 6.5m's up, which quickly picked up to 25mph + gusts. Came in and rigged smaller 5.5m, which was perfect. Great day longest planing runs I've had to date on the Carve 122, and didn't uphaul one. Very choppy,...

Slack lines as you get planing.
Any of your tipsters out there want to help me out.
When I get on the plane, the harness lines suddenly go slack.
I've shortened the lines, and try and keep my arms straight, pushing the rig away and leaning out which all helps.
Does this sound right, or should I be doing something else?

Lovely sunny day at Poole. Wind very up and down 10-15knots NW. Everyone looked to be on 5.8-6.5's, so started out with 6.5m, Carve 122, which wasn't enough. Came back in and rigged a 7.5m, and bigger fin which was better, wind was still up and down, but managed to get planing. NW is a strange one a...

Poole tomorrow?
Worked hard this week, and earned another play token.
Wind and tides look good. Poole's the plan, while the parking's still cheap.
All welcome to join me. Put up a post or give me a ring if your up for it.

Poole again for a change. Not sure of the wind (12knots +, WSW). 7.5 Tbird, Carve 122. Slipping in the new straps like a favourite pair of slippers (Just a phase, I'm not that old really). Just need to work on my stance and commit into the harness more to stop turning up wind. Its definetly getting ...

Graham, No magic tweak I'm afraid, I was lucky that Rich had a spare pair of slightly longer straps to exchange with mine. Although slightly longer they are exactly the same strap design, but have the DRAKE logo instead of the STARBOARD logo, I'm assuming a previous version. Now installed on the boa...

Thanks, I'm try bringing the straps back to the standard spacings, wet them down and leave a pair of Helen's old trainers in them and see if that works. I'll give you a shout about the straps if this fails. As for 'Fighting for your very survival' not sure I like the sound of that, but sounds like yo...

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go. Got a Guy Cribb article as well to try. Technique is a definitely a major issue, but I still feel I need to stretch the straps somehow. I'm size 9 with winter boots at the moment, straps have been undone and pulled, and I've even tried wider screw fixings (whic...

2nd sail of the year at Poole. Cold gusty SE 15-18knots, planing most of the time on a 5.5m and Carve 122. Struggling to get back upwind at times and could of easily done with a bigger fin and sail, but too cold too come in and make the change, and the gusts provided enough to waterstart. Stayed in ...

Hoping to make it Sunday, just hoping its not too windy. If only i can stay on for 500m. Smallest sail is a 5.5 so plan is too eat more pies between now and Sunday! Any tips for setting up for speed appreciated. Current thoughts are bigger sail, low boom, try not to think about catapults, and duck t...

Braved the cold
Quick detour to Portland on route to holiday lodge on Friday 31st for a well powered up sail on 6.5 and Carve 122. Long walk out to fin depth and very chilly NEasterly. Snowboarding Saturday on the 'not so dry' ski slope, and another windurfing session on Sunday morning. Tide held up well to enable ...
