Au contrare I can see Martin he is the 8th rider behind Elvis in the scrubland that Afan has become in the parallel universe where South Wales is warm and arrid , California is a swamp , Castle Coombe with its environs is MTB Nirvana where beer glasses never run dry. :roll:

It was sunny and hot on the Tourmalet 8) I did pass a couple of guys on MTBs part way up who looked a little puzzled as to why 10,000 roadies were going by them in a hurry perhaps they were on a cross country trail. They looked as hot as we were and I suspect would have liked to be in the rain at Cw...

Yes I've booked on it with RAV - same race plan as last year go like stink at the start- crash and burn on first section of tricky down hill - get patched up by St John's Ambulance - change to short route :roll:

Still pasta party and beer tasting on Saturday night was good fun :lol:

Interesting session at the BMX track. Pocket hanky size course but lots of fun and quite a punchy little climb back to the start point. a variety of bikes were used varying from full suss to completely rigid hybrid style :shock: but no BMXs :roll: Most wore body armour, 2 had full face helmets 1 wis...

Hi Carl

It should be Martin Nigel Adrian Geoff Conrad and Me . I think we are going to be there for the formal dinner and drinks on saturday night with accomodation at the 5 star Wheddon Cross Hilton with pool.

I'm told the forecast is good ( but they always say that don't they ?)

Sadly I have family duties in N Wales this w/e so I can't ride but I'm now available to ride on the light side after completing the end to end. :D

You could try the Sustrans routes I think route 51 " Culbone Way " goes SW from Minehead but unfortunately as Martin says the SWCP is off limits. :(

Have a look at the Sustrans website ( get Cycling section South West)
