Hi Kelvin

went to Afan myself on Saturday, got there about 1pm. Went round the easy route 2.5 hours or so. My first time there. The Hidden Valley was a bit daunting but I made it round no damage to me or the bike. :)

Is it always seemingly deserted?

I had something through from Planet Windsurf this week about last minute deals to Margarita. Should be good there in late Feb if you can stand the long-haul flight and endless cheap cocktails.

Sorry but can't go anywhere as I've just blown all our savings on a big holiday in August!

Will most likely head to Weston regardless now. If the wind doesn't blow I will go jogging (shudder) or something else to get at least some exercise. Liderwotsit - got a blue 406 estate maybe see you there. Also if any of you were or are G'n'R fans there is a tribute band playing in Bristol tonight ...

Saturday may be doable at Weston as the high tide is 4pm (sail from 2pm 'til dark).

Depending on wind of course but this does seem likely.

Plus I have a pass on Saturday :)

I was busy Saturday and have made a late start today so won't make the trip to the coast. Plus I'm not really up to a full-on gale sail these days - too out of practice and too out of shape. Maybe if the day was longer and it was going to turn sunny more mellow F5-6 cross-on somewhere not too far aw...

So did anyone get out yesterday (Sunday 18th)?

Decided against even though the rain was beating against the bedroom window early on Sunday morning. Did I miss a good session or did I successfully avoid getting skunked?

Kelvin,

what is it you do for a living, when you're not busy busting crime on the streets of Gotham?

I've never got lucky yet with a visit to the Knap.

What's the current situation with the M4 roadworks north of Cardiff? Are delays likely on Sunday morning?

Slippery seatpost woes

Hi all, Just started with this MTB lark - bought a Trek hardtail. It said in the manual that its important to grease the various metal-metal joints to prevent seizure by corrosion. So I duely applied some ordinary lithium-based grease to the seatpost. I found it slips down under my weight on bumpy r...

Looking good for the Knap Weds or Thurs?

I went all the way to Portland and was rewarded with 3 hours of blasting backwards and forwards across the harbour.
Plenty of folk out on a loverly windy sunny afternoon that actually coincided with the weekend 8)
I'll tackle the murky and fast-moving waters of the Bristol channel next time.
