Weekend 8th/9th Feb
Went down to a sunny WSM on Saturday to find a big squall and a 6.0 kite being desperately landed - after the squall it dropped to about 30 mph so I rigged a 7.0 kite and got into my wetsuit by which time another big squall brought people hurrying off the water including good kiters like Nigel walke...

Saturday 25th
Matt's post looks quite funny 20mph+ plus being the key word. I arrived to find no wind but the 11 degrees and sunny in Matt's post. the wind started to fill in so I got suited up and rigged a 12.0 kite and big board. By the time I hit the water I was well powered and after 30 mins decided to change...

First sail of the year
Last Sunday saw me making the trek down to Portland on quite a good forecast and not too cold at 9 to 10 degrees predicted for the afternoon. On arrival at the boatyard Weston regulars Bob and Lesley were in attendance with the temperature showing 7 to 8 degrees and it feeling bitterly cold in the f...

Re: Stormy Friday 27th
Weston again 8) arrived to find very heavy squalls and only windsurfers out  The first kite was about to hit the water but their was not a lot of enthusiasm as cold and tricky so I wandered down for a chat with Matt and Alan who were showing the same level of willingness  We wathched peo...

Pre Christmas Windy Weekend
Went to WSM first thing saturday morning but only 8mph on the beach - as I was driving away the radio was talking about a lane closure on the old severn bridge due to the wind so decided to head over to 'the sunny side' and went to Aberavon - very light wind but went out on a surfboard and my 12.0 k...

Re: Pre-Christmas Sail at Weekend?
Just got back from a week at Boa Vista but will risk the temperature difference If I get my Christmas preparations squared away. I had one serious trashing in the shore break on my first day when very underpowered trying to get out through about 6 to 9 foot of full on closing out shorebreak and got ...

Re: Stormy Saturday Nov 2nd
Like Newton Hill Head was sunny on arrival and only about 25mph so went kiting on my 7.0 had an hour before lunch then a big squall came through but the sun soon reappeared and the wind went from about 25 to 35 mph in a few minutes - I went back out on my 7.0 kite but was soon cranking on the depowe...

Re: Well Windy Portland - 26 Oct
Weston proved disappointing on Saturday with less wind than forecast and lots of lulls with it dropping completly quite early on - I satyed to the bitter end with another kiter and had a long walk back to the water when the wind returned but it only lasted about 20 minutes so a frustrating session. ...

Re: Weekend 26/27 October?
A Weston double looks on the cards, HW is 1123 on Saturday at 9.4m and Sunday shows 1115 and 8.8m after the clocks have gone back....
So will look to be on the water about 10 both days as that still gives 4 hours

Windy Weekend
Went to Portland on Saturday and kited - very little wind when I arrived and Southerly - windsurfers on 8.0+ so I went for a 15.0 kite - was soon overpowered then very overpowerd and changed down to a 10.0 as now 20 knots and the wind switched to westerly - this was about 4.00pm - tide was ok for wi...
