Ladies and Gents of the biking persuasion
Having tried a couple of Nomadic Mountain biking sessions on Son’s non-suspension bike, I have been on the lookout for a reasonably priced, second hand, front suspension type mountain bike so as to partake of the occasional ride out, albeit with a bit more downhill control and less wrist fatigue.
Spotted this advert - see below
Price about right (according to website this model is £625 New). Sounds the sort of thing I’m after, but the technical bits are all gobbledegook to me. :?
Anybody give me a clue ? – Is what’s on offer good or bad ?? Is it suitable for a 6 foot 13.5 stone, old geezer that would probably only manage somewhere between 10 and 20 outings a year ??
All advice especially the polite type welcome
Cheers
Brian

The ad makes no mention of the frame size. GT do S, M, L and XL. Being
6ft,
the L will probably suit best. The GT triple-triangle frames are very strong.
Spec seems good for that price.
Fork may be a little on the weedy side for a 6ft, 13.5 stone bloke, but
should be ok given the quantity of riding cited.
My concern is that as the BB and brake pads have just been changed, the
bike must have been riding a fair bit and the drive train may be on the
way
out - you'd need to see it (or at least some close up photos) to
determine
this.
I'd be inclined to offer £200 with the above in mind which will budget
for
any replacement drive train bits.
First step is to check the frame size - that is most important!
Cheers,
