timids triumph in Kos

Post by dro »

Home again suitably refreshed
met Graham and Val and offered to let then join the Timids
Graham semed timid enough and would fit in nicely but did not seem intersted
BUT Val !!!
Wild is a major understatement
Uncontrollable another
Could not keep her still .Out in stormy condition when even the rescue boat would not venture.Fighting when returning home at 5 A.M from local disco.Loud singing outside the window .
and these are just the printable episodes.

So fair enough I thought she is in
Val is now the third timid
Bosun Val

Admitedly she does not know this yet

Great excitement 50% increase in membership
THough I am a bit worried about Ben and his small board
Will have to discuss situation next annual meeting.

Oh by the way had a lovely time
Did a very small amount of windsurfing just to justify the holiday
Lager very nice in pre cooled glasses LOVELY

Martin I will contact you about the bike

Disco ?????????????? Singing ??????????????? How much wine did I have ? I don't remember any of that!!

You left at the right time Huw. Saturday night saw the mother and father of all thunderstorms and the weather was fairly dodgy for the entire second week. We were also invaded by, what seemed like, the entire toddler population of the UK.

By the way - you seem to have omitted telling everyone of your plans of Friday night. ie - to make a human sacrifice to the wind gods (ie Me!!) by throwing me onto a pyre built on one of the Funboats.

OK a quick quiz from the holiday on Koz:

1. Who was the only windsurfer to turn up not wearing Red on the first on the first day?

2. On a day when there was the occasional planning gust, who was heard to say "There wasn't quite enough wind"?

3. Who turned down very drinkable Red wine in favour of rather poor fizzy cold stuff? (Even when I went on errand to get the non frozen red wine from the fridge!)

4. Who got over excited at the chance of sailing a funboat and insisted we have a race? Mind you we did set the record for taking funboats further than they had ever gone before.

Mind you even if his timid credential were looking a little iffy he and friend provided great company.

As Val say the second week was a bit of a write off, especially after 4 out of 6 double strap planning days in the first week. The only decent day of the second week for us mere mortals was the day we came back. There were a couple of manic days when they didn't launch the rescue boat so only the instructors went on the water.

The one day I did brave the breakers I got out successfully (a first for me) only to find there was no wind outside. Only on my forth run did the wind get up, by which time I was knackered after fighting the 6+ft swell out in the open water on the earlier runs.

Actually even on some of the earlier better days there was a decent swell off shore and I got sort of airborne a few times, occasionally intentionally. So Kos as a destination make be an option for some of you experts.

This guy sounds like trouble Graham
Keep away from him

Strange that I did not meet him, perhaps he hid whenever I appeared
some people are like that

Had the toddler plague in San Agostino last year
rather spoilt the whole experience
Thank God we escaped this time

I notice Bristol will be losing in Swansea on saturday
Please accept my sincere sympathy

All best
looking forward to next holiday already

I'm worried about you Huw, Swansea are playing Barf this week end. As you would know if you had listen to me and Peter more and drunk less Lager, and any self respecting rugby fan will always hope to see Barf loose.

Bristol's 3rd team will probably get a stuffing from Gloucester this weekend, but I hope not.

Now get a grip man, just because you lost the fun boat race and have been exposed as a non Timid, there is no need to ruin the message-board.

I hope you realise that the reason I lost the fun boat race was that it was too windy
You can not believe the effort I had to make to get on the water valium
self hypnosis etc

Sorry about barf the boys told me in the club that it was Bristol
BUt you all look the same to me

Good luck Bristol thirds
