Portland Fri. 10th. Sept

What Nomadic events are coming up. Also, if anyone's planning a non-Nomadically-arranged trip and/or looking for others to join in.

Portland Fri. 10th. Sept

Post by Bob Iles »

I am a new member so I thought I should start posting where and when I am proposing to sail. I will be leaving early on Friday morning for Porland for a days sailing and if any one would like a ride I have room in my camper van for a second load of kit. I can also provide cups of tea from it so why not come along

Hi Bob
Such a model new Nomad member - and no training required .. :-))

Thanks for the offer. Ordinarily I would have taken you up on this - especially as you only live a couple of miles away if that! However I am down there on Sat/ Sunday with a few friends from a Margarita trip (not sure if we are sailing at Portland or further east). So I don't really fancy going down for the day on Friday and back again on Sat. I may have a think about it and drive down for a sail on Friday and stop in a B&B Friday night - not sure yet, will let you know. The forecast does look good, although the tide is v low in the afternoon. Not sure if that is a huge problem that a little walk can't sort out??

If I don't see you there then have a good time. It's looking good ! :D

Hi Simon

I have heard (but not witnessed, as never been there that early), that the barrier is up, and you get in FOC. That was what happened with J&L last Saturday. So you can get there as early as you like!

I suppose if it is locked you could use the council car park just a little bit further on, and then move your van later.
