Other options (!) - Sunday 21st
May be really clutching at straws here - but Graham's favourite weather website does hint at possibly some wind on Sunday for:
WSM - high tide 11.30am (ish) so may be a little early for wind kicking in:

or
Knap (looks the better bet at the moment) - low tide 6.00pm (ish), W wind and sun should swing it SW:

As always, I'm keen for something - will keep an eye on it anyway!

they've improved since I checked this morning. Of the two I think the Knap looks more likely to work, but would like to see it a little more certain. The Admiralty site has low tide at 17-24 which looks promising. It could be a welsh version of last Sunday, although with the Sun the Car park could be full.
I guess the real test is if there any interest from Kelvin's mob. I'd ask on their site but my registration has never been acknowledge so can post on there. There is a suggestion for the Gower tomorrow, but I'd need a good forecast to go that far.

Hi Simon
That's good
I used the directions from this website the first time I went there (plus see the link to the map, which is useful for the final stage):
http://www.bristolnomads.org.uk/locatio ... directions
But in outline, J33 of M4, then follow all the signs to Barry Island. When you are nearing the town you see a sign (to turn right to "The Knap"), and you have to wiggle through the residential streets down to the sea. I know you like your GPS, so maybe you can get a ref for that.
We park on a road along the top of the beach (no parking fee).
Key thing - is there is a bank of stones to get down to the water - which (if you are a barefoot sailor) you will want some footwear to wear for the stones, and then take off and leave down there whilst sailing. My Tevas are ideal!
Timing - low tide is 5.30. We sail it up to low tide and a bit after. Not sure what time we can get on the water - depends if the wind has kicked in and what the shorebreak is like (sometimes have to wait for the tide to drop and the shorebreak to go down). I shall follow Justin's lead - and aim to be there midday, just because it's a nice place to hang around so I may as well be there!
See you tomorrow. Better get our best smiles out for the photoshoot
