Managed 28 knots, improving....

Post by Richard »

Another good couple of days, clocked 28 knots down the speed run yesterday afternoon, had quite a large 141 litre board, would probably have been quicker on smaller, but felt tired when selecting kit.

Not quite so much wind today, took out a 7.8m lightning / 122 Futura first thing, (9am), had some good runs out back, 25 odd knots, low tide, so water really flat close in to the spit, great conditions when hands and feet are just about wasted. Made our way back into the lagoon mid morning and met up with Alison and some of the other "improver's", spent a good hour watching them doing their thing whilst the wind had backed off. Conditions then improved once again and the lightning strated to "twitch", carried on with some good runs inside the lagoon, one where I crept up in the swell break of one of the safety boats until I had to pass by, came off the water at just after 1pm.

Wind backing off again this afternoon, body too tired to make the effort though, so it's an early "cold one" instead :)

Other guests talking about the trip being a full 14 days of good winds, if it does turn out to be so, it will be our first.

Take care, R&A
