Portland Pirate 1000NM challenge for BHF

Post by SteveC »

Thought you might be interested in reading this blog from one of the Portland Pirates, Lea Spencer, who is doing a challenge of windsurfing 1000NM in one year to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

I have not met him yet; I only got to know about his challenge through another windsurfer on Facebook. He is nearly 75% towards his target of £1000 through Just Giving and is well over half way to his target of 1000NM, including covering over 100NM in one day recently.

The blog http://redsurfbus.blogspot.com/

The challenge Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Redsurfbus

Don’t know if any of you have come across this, so it seemed only right to share it as it will be an epic achievement if he does it and I think it’s a very worthy cause in any case.

Cheers everybody :)

Steve

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't consider 1000 nano-metres to be much of a challenge. I think even I (or even dro) could manage that ;)
It's an ill wind that never blows at all.

Dorset Echo coverage of Lea's challenge.

It will be an impressive achievement when he gets to 1000NM. I just wish I had as much opportunity to get out on the water myself.
But then I may just get that wish if I get redundancy at the end of the year :-))

He still needs more support to reach his £1000 target by the way....
