Beach advice needed

I've just moved to South Bristol and have been to Weston a couple of times, but was wondering if there was anywhere else within an hours drive to go to that was decent ?

Also do people ever share vehicles & so reduce costs etc ?

Hi Crispy,

Weston is it within an hour for most Bristolians, Brean also works but normally people only go when the beach racing blocks weston although some prefer it to Weston in a southerly. Burnham is good in a north westerly but parking is limited and ou really need to go with some one who knows it first time. Cold knapp at barry is about an hour depending on exact start point - have a look at www.winsurfing.co.uk for the south wales scene. Weymouth, Portland and poole are all over an hour and half again depending on starting area of Bristol.

If you travel an addition half an hour you could sail at Minehead. That's where we're based. We normally only sail on westerly or north westerly, but have sailed easterly before. We always sail on an outgoing tide, but on an incoming tide you can start further down the coast and broad reach down.
There are two main launching points; the far side of the harbour or the area just before the golf course.
I guess the main attractions are consistent wind and great coastline. We also get some wave sometimes at low tide or when it's really windy.
