Sticky Boom

Decided to rig one of my new sales last weekend, had a right royal battle getting the boom to extend.
Eventually managed to pull the extension out and have managed to get it moving again.
Should I be leaving the extension out over winter?
Are there any recommended lubricants?

Best to rinse kit in fresh water after any sea sailing, and lubrication as per reference chart below can be applied as prevention as well as cure!
