Running Reports

Running reports from the diary

The following reports are available view the information recorded in the diary:

The reports in the diary have a hierarchical structure. When an item in a report can be drilled down to a lower level, the item will be displayed as a hyperlink. Click on the hyperlink to uncover more information about the item. For example, looking at a list of locations allows you to click on a location and find out more information about the sessions you have had at that location.

The reports in the diary are only useful once you have entered information about the equipment Image of a diary reportyou have used and the trips and sessions you have had with that equipment.

Once you have entered information into the diary, you can start viewing it with the available reports. To view the list of available reports, press the button.

Board Usage Summary

The board usage summary report provides a list of all the boards registered to you together with a summary of the number of times you have used the equipment, the length of time on the water for the kit and the average fun factor for each of the sessions.

When you click on a board in the grid, the report will drill down and display a summary of each of the sessions you have used the board for. Drilling further will display the information about the particular session.

The graphs display in turn the number of sessions, the time on the water and the average fun factor for each of the boards. If there are no recorded sessions for a board, it will not appear in the tables or graphs.

Sail Usage Summary

The sail session summary report provides a list of all the sails registered to you together with a summary of the number of times you have used the sail, the length of time on the water for the sail and the average fun factor for each of the sessions.

The mast session summary report provides a list of all the masts registered to you together with a summary of the number of times you have used the mast, the length of time on the water for the mast and the average fun factor for each of the sessions.

The boom session summary report provides a list of all the booms registered to you together with a summary of the number of times you have used the boom, the length of time on the water for the boom and the average fun factor for each of the sessions.

Fin Usage Summary

The fin session summary report provides a list of all the fins registered to you together with a summary of the number of times you have used the fin, the length of time on the water for the fin and the average fun factor for each of the sessions.

Usage Summary For All Kit

The usage summary for all kit reports of all the kit owned by the user. The results of the report are grouped into the different types of kit and displays the number of seesions the kit has been used for, the time spent on the water for the piece of kit and the average fun factor for each of the sessions the kit was used for.

The report is drillable, so that if you click on a record in the report, it will take you to all the sessions for the piece of equipment.

View Registered Kit

View registered kit provides a summary of all the equipment registered to you in the diary. If an item in the list has an entry in the Date Sold column, then it is assumed to be either sold or disposed off. If you dispose of a piece of equipment, then you should mark it as sold and set the price sold to be 0.

The report is drillable, so when you click on an item of equipment, you will display a summary of each of the sessions you have used the equipement for.

View Registered Locations

View registered locations provides two tables. The first table provides a summary of the location information registered to the user in the diary. The second table shows a summary of the session information for each of the locations.

The available locations table details the total distance for a trip to the location, the petrol cost for the round trip and the typical launch fee for the venue. Note that the actual launch fee charged at the venue is collected on the trip table to allow for venues that charge different launch fees depending on the time of year. Clicking on an entry in this table will drill down to the sessions at that location.

The sessions at locations table provides a summary of the recorded sessions at each of the venues. The information displayed includes the number of trips to the location, the number of sessions during those trips, the total time spent on the water during the sessions and the average fun factor for each of the sessions. Drilling into the session table will display further information about each of the sessions at the venue.

Trip Location Summary

The trip location summary provides a record of the recorded sessions at each of the venues. The information displayed includes the number of trips to the location, the number of sessions during those trips, the total time spent on the water during the sessions and the average fun factor for each of the sessions. Drilling into the session table will display further information about each of the sessions at the venue.

Any registered locations that haven't yet had any sessions will not be included in this table.

Trip And Session Summary

The trip and session summary provides a log of all the trips and sessions recorded in the diary. Each session within the time period of the report will have a row in the table. The table produced records the location, date, the time on the water for each of the sessions, the wind direction, the wind strength, funfactor for the session and the comment made against the particular session.

To view information about the session, click on a row in the table. Clicking on a row in the table will provide the full report on the equipment used during the session.

Sessions by Location and Wind Direction

Sessions by location and wind direction displays a list of all the locations and the wind directions that the location has been sailed in. Over time this report should build to provide a clear indication of which locations are best to head for in a particular wind direction. The report displays information on location, direction, wind strength, fun factor and the comment recorded against the session. The report is ordered by location and wind direction to allow users to quickly scan down to the location you are considering and the wind direction for the day. Another report which should help decide which location to head for in a particular wind direction is the sessions by wind direction report.

Sessions by Wind Direction

Sessions by wind direction provides a list of all the recorded sessions, ordered by wind direction. This report is intended to assist with the "which location shall I go to" decision-making process. Each session in a particular wind direction is grouped together with the location, wind strength, fun factor are comment are reported together to allow the user to assess which of the locations visited so far is the most appropriate for the predicted wind directions.

The trip and session summary by month report provides information about how frequently you have windsurfed during the year. The report is summarised by month and provides graphs to show the number of trips and the number of sessions per month.

Trip cost summary

The trip cost summary contains a summary of the costs associated with each of the windsurfing trips you have been on. Included in the table are details of the petrol costs, parking fees and launch fees for each of the trips you have been on.

The annual trip cost report provides details of the total spent on petrol, parking and launch fees for the whole of each calendar year.

Monthly trip costs

The monthly trip costs reports provides a summary of the costs associated with going windsurfing for each month. The table provided gives details of the number of trips, the total cost of all the trips for the month and the total cost broken down into petrol, parking fees and launch fees.

Annual total trip costs

The annual total trip cost report provides a single figure summary for the total cost of all petrol, parking and launch fees spent during the calendar year.

Trip value summary

The trip value summary relates the amount it cost to go on a windsurfing trip with fun that you have had during the trip. The report records the time on the water, the average fun factor for each of the sessions in the trip together with the actual cost of petrol, parking and launch fees for the trip. Each trip is represented by a single entry in the table.
