Weston Tues 10th. Evening

What Nomadic events are coming up. Also, if anyone's planning a non-Nomadically-arranged trip and/or looking for others to join in.

Weston Tues 10th. Evening

Post by Graham_U »

OK then you Weston experts, the forecast for tomorrow is for sun all day and 12 mph winds for the west. With high-tide at 8pm what the chances of a decent after work session?

Hi Graham

I'm no expert, but I have an eye on it too!! The wind may drop as evening progresses, so maybe 5.00 - 7.00 will be best? (she says, not knowing whether that's a load of c#@p!). What does Justin reckon??

I see we have a famous Nomad now - August Boards mag page 22. May I have your autograph please, Keith :D ?

I'm going to be there for the early shift (5pm-7pm) as I'm working tonight, and the beach will disappear at high tide ~13m!
Going tomorrow (Weds) too.
Forecast not so good at the moment, but 'if you don't go, you won't know'. :)

The forecast have dropped off badly overnight to 7mph! So it not looking good for this evening. The bad weather seems to have extended further north and lasted longer than expected. But its brightening up outside so I check later this afternoon before making a final decision.

I think I'm giving up on tonight, this wet-patch seems to have driven further north than they were predicting yesterday. I'll leave the kit in the car to see if tomorrow is possible, at the moment the forecast looking promising, although I'm not sure where the lights fit on my boards. :???:

I'm giving up on it too - off to the gym instead!

Wind is NE at the moment - v odd (one of my neighbours v kindly has a weather vane on their house for my use :D ). Portland is the place to be - 25mph W and some sun.

Hope tomorrow is better ..

Ok forecast dropped a little, but still better signs than yesterday. Currently showing 12/13 mph and sunny intervals for late afternoon early evening. So what are the chances of it working for a couple of hours before the 20:45 high-tide tonight?

Top marks for keeness Graham!

BBC website is showing 17mph late afternoon - encouraging! Probably depends how sunny it gets as to whether it really kicks in and stays into the evening.

If the wind does pick up then I suggest sailing as soon as can get on the water (3 hrs before high tide), and the best sailing will be until the water reaches the posts (so a good 1.5 hrs). Is that right, Justin ??

I'm going to keep an eye on it anyway ..

Not sure if its keenness or stupidity, certainly frustration. Most of the kit has been in the car since my aborted trip on Saturday but not got wet.

Looking much better for today (weds) 8) , after yesterday's wash-out (I saw the rain and just went back to bed :???: ).
As Sue says, best bet is to take The Walk and sail from 5.45pm till water hits posts.
Beware the BIG high tide  !
